Closures
Occasionally the Cathedral, or parts of it, may need to close or only offer restricted access for a service, special event or day to day maintenance. We try to minimise these periods as much as we can, as we know that people travel long distances to visit us. As soon as we know about a closure it will be posted below. Please remember to check for last minute changes prior to your visit as some events, such as funerals, are only arranged at short notice.
1:00pm - 3:00pm 6th December 2008
The Cathedral - Due to a service taking place the Cathedral will be closed to visitors from 1.00-3.30pm. The Chapter House, Shop and Restaurant all remain open as normal.2:00pm - 3:30pm 9th December 2008
The Cathedral - Due to a service taking place there will be no visitor access during these times. The Shop, Restaurant and Chapter House (Magna Carta) remain open as normal.10:30am - 3:00pm 10th December 2008
The Cathedral - Due to Carol services taking place throughout the day there will be restricted access. Recommended viewing times today will be 1.00-2.00pm and after 3.00pm. The shop, restaurant and Chapter House all remain open as normal.1:30pm - 3:30pm 11th December 2008
The Trinity Chapel - Due to a service taking place the Trinity Chapel will be closed to visitors. All other areas of the Cathedral will remain open.2:00pm - 3:30pm 16th December 2008

Christmas Closures - The Cathedral will close earlier than the published times on the following dates over the Christmas period.Sunday 21 December - Close at 4.45pm and re-open at 6.00pm for the Carol Service
Monday 22 December - Close at 4.45pm and re-open at 6.00pm for the Carol Service
Thursday 25 December - Close at 5.00pm
Friday 26 December - Close at 5.00pm
Saturday 27 December - Close at 5.00pm
Sunday 28 December - Close at 5.00pm
Monday 29 December - Close at 5.00pm
Tuesday 30 December - Close at 5.00pm
Wednesday 31 December - Close at 5.00pm and re-open at 10.30pm for the Watchnight Service
Thursday 1 January - Close at 5.00pm
Friday 2nd January - Close at 5.00pm
Sunday 4 January - Close at 5.00pm
The Shop and Restaurant will open/close from 10am-4.30pm from Sunday 21 December until Sunday 4 January 2009 (inclusive)
The Shop, Restaurant and Chapter House will all be closed on Christmas Day (25 December). The Cathedral will be open for published services on Christmas Day.
